This Past weekend was the FIRST Annual Nightmare Weekend Hosted by GalaxyCon Richmond, at the Greater Richmond Convention Center. GeekyKool Covered GalaxyCon earlier this year, and we were looking forward to seeing how GalaxyCon would handle a completely brand new Con. The guest were lined up, including Warwick Davis, Danny Trejo, Tony Todd and Richard Dryfuss among others. Due to the SAG-AFTRA Strike, No interviews were allowed, in fact I was told by Thora Birch’s Husband, that the cast of Hocus Pocus in attendance had to turn down EW.com Sunday Morning. Because of the press “blackout”, I spent my day taking cosplay photos and doing a short interview with Independent comic artist and writer Dan Nokes.

For the first year, this was not a bad Con. GalaxyCon runs a very professional Convention. Communication with the media department was timely, and clear. The Handlers for each star were very receptive to questions, and the Volunteers, were definitely plentiful and ran the autograph lines with precision. I expect this Con to be a welcome addition to the Richmond convention scene. and this reporter is looking forward to next years GalaxyCon, and Nightmare Weekend
