Here is a link to the first episode of the new PlayStation Original Series, Powers.  It is an edgy drama about a former super hero who has turned police officer.  He runs a division focused on people with “Powers”.

This is an interesting look at a world with super abilities individuals.  It peers into the mind of people with and without powers that may be good, bad, or somewhere in between.  It isn’t a pretty shining world that we often see in comics.

Powers, an edgy dramatic series, follows the lives of two homicide detectives, Christian Walker
and Deena Pilgrim, who are assigned to investigate cases involving people with superhuman
abilities, referred to as “Powers.” Set amidst today’s paparazzi culture, Powers asks the questions,
what if the world was full of superheroes who aren’t actually heroic at all? What if all that power
was just one more excuse for mischief, mayhem, murder, and endorsement deals?

Enter the men and women of the Powers Division, the brave people in charge of protecting
humans like us and keeping the peace over commercialized, god-like men and women who glide
through the sky imposing their power over the mortals who both worship and fear them.  (Playstation)

This television series is based off a comic book series.  The comic is written by Brian Michael Bendis and art by Michael Avon Oeming.  It is a creator-owned (meaning the creators own the rights and not a comic company) comic.  It was first published with Image Comics and now is published by Marvel.

It is interesting that this will be on the Playstation Plus network.  I am surprised it didn’t go to Netflix or Amazon Prime but it didn’t.  I don’t have a Playstation 3 or 4 so I will not be watching this series.  I would definitely watch it if I could but only after the kids were in bed.

It is dark and very adult focused. There is a lot of blood and cursing in this first episode. It is not for children! Because it is not family friendly, we will not post the episode here on Geeky KOOL but we will post a link for anyone that is 17 years of age that would like to view it.  Click Here!
