Comicbook live are very popular. Superheroes are popping up all over the place. But live action non-superhero comics are rapidly being developed for television. Series like the Walking Dead, iZombie, Agent Carter, and Lucifer are few non-super comic book series. Here comes another one with Y: The Last Man.
Y: The Last Man is a dystopian sci-fi comic where all the men on Earth suddenly die, except one. All male mammals including embryos and sperm are dead. Yorick Brown, a young escape artist, and his male Capuchin monkey, Ampersand are the only male survivors.
The death of all of the men, except one, causes mass destruction and chaos, such as plane and automobile crashes. This leads to world-wide infrastructure collapses. The women of Earth have to learn to live life with the possibility of extinction of the human race.
Brian K. Vaughan, writer of the DC-Vertigo series of Y: The Last Man, will be heavily involved in the television series for FX. There is a search for a television writer to work with Vaughan. Vaughan has worked on television series in the past including LOST and Under the Dome.
