With anticipation of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, some movie theaters have banned various Star Wars items from being allowed in the theaters. AMC and Cinemark has banned lightsabers, blasters, and masks. They are welcoming costumes but without the weapons or face coverings.
If you are planning on dressing up for the première, you might want to check with the theater before opening. Make sure to ask about carrying a Star Wars “weapon” or painting your face. In some theaters it won’t be an issue but don’t assume they will be allowed.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens on December 18th. There will be sneak peek showings in some theaters on December 17th.
