In 2010, I went out with my friends Bryan and Jeff to see a movie. We all love cool science fiction and action movies. The movie Skyline opened that weekend. The previews made this movie look like a ton of fun. It was an easy selection to see. Often we will not agree on how good or bad a movie was. This movie was a unanimous terrible movie.
Skyline was packed full of action and aliens. It wasn’t full of story or plot or character development. In fact, there wasn’t any character development or plot.
I love numerous bad science fiction movies and shows. I find movies like Sharknado to be a ton of fun. But Skyline took bad science fiction to a whole new level.
If you were looking for a movie for the action and science fiction, this was a movie for you. Hope you don’t mind 2D characters who had no motivation for their actions. Don’t try to figure out the story but enjoy the big explosion and funky aliens.
Jeff, Bryan, and I have an inside joke about Skyline. When someone asks if a movie or show was good, we often say, “It was better than Skyline. Well, everything is better than Skyline.”
This horrible movie has a sequel. Beyond Skyline started filming a couple of years ago. It has been in post-production ever since. This sequel is expected to be released in movie theaters later this year.
Beyond Skyline will be concurrent with the original movie. It takes place at the same time as the events in Los Angeles.
I know that Hollywood appears to be out of ideas. They push remakes and sequels because they don’t have anything to give us. But a sequel to one of the worst movies ever? Really? Okay. I am sure I will watch Beyond Skyline but not until it comes to Netflix.
