It is officially the season of festive lights, wrapping paper galore, and gingerbread wafting through the air. I also adore this time of year. One of my favorite things to do is give gifts, selecting items of interest that reflect the unique and cherished to me person. Nerdy gifts are the most fun for me. Branching from this pastime of mine is the thrill of finding adorkable presents to give to my fur baby, Socks, or give gifts to myself and hubby to show our over-the-top devotion and affection for our sweet neko. =^o^=
I wanted to share some of our favorite gifts we have gotten to show our extreme cat lover pride in case you want some quirky and mewo-tastic gifts for this holiday season. 🙂
Cat Dad Cup-
I got this for Derrick for Valentine’s Day this year from a wonderful Etsy store. I sent a photo of Socks and then they ‘signed’ the back with Socks’ name and a tiny paw print, which I thought was precious. Derrick got choked up and near cried seeing it. Wasn’t expecting that! But this gift is a warm declaration to the world how much you and your kitty love each other. You can get your own HERE (Although at the moment, the seller is on vacation). They do dogs as well.
Turn Your Pet Into a Pokemon-
Okay! I couldn’t resist! =D We have both been avid Pokemon fans in all forms since it came to the States in 1999 when we were young. When I was looking for custom cat gifts for Derrick, I found this beauty. The artist was a delight to work with and very accommodating when I asked for some changes to reflect Socks’ personality. I think it turned out so cute! Derrick loved it. We think she would be a normal type and her attacks are napping and biting ankles! You can get your own HERE.
Perler Bead Cat-
I have always been in awe of perler bead designs of my favorite characters, often as keychains and magnets. They look like pixelated versions of cherished characters. They are so fun and colorful. During all the covid downtime, my sista from another mister, Julie, taught some of us how to make our own. I am normally horrid at crafts that require tiny pieces to work with. Although my hands are small, I am clumsy. Ha! But I am fairly good at them and now I am hooked! One of the first ones I made was Socks’ face. It makes me so happy I was able to make a unique, nerdy gift to show how I feel about my fuzzy pumpkin spice latte! ^_^ The one on the left is the one I made and the right beauty was made by a vendor at a local convention. Maybe I can sell some of my own sometime. You can get perler beads, boards, and other accessories at Hobby Lobby OR Amazon (fun fact: I only bought an ironing board for these babies, HA!)
Kitty Night LED Light-
I purchased this cutie pie for Derrick this year (shush). It comes with a little remote to allow it to change colors. What a playful gift for any age! Here is the link to make your season a little brighter.
Music Cats Love While You Are Gone CD-
Admittedly, I have always wanted to get this for my cat, but haven’t yet. Still, I think this is a wonderful idea. I always feel bad leaving Socks alone for hours while we work. Plus, I am curious about what cats listen to. The link to the CD is HERE.
Nerdy Cat Shirts-
There are lots of fantastic online nerdy t-shirt shops and most have cats, the most featured creature of Internet fame! One of my favorite nerdy sites is Turtle Tee. Their punny humor and kawaii pictures have something for everyone and they have a baker’s dozen worth of kitty shirts and other products. Here is their whole current Cat Category.
Japanese Ceramic Set-
This set is paw-tastic! Derrick got this for me at my first SEMO Con. I collect Japanese pottery, mostly teacups/pots and plates. The stunning sapphire blue with the traditional good luck cat design combines adorable with grace. I usually find most of my Japanese pottery while going antiquing. You can tell it’s from Japan by the red, square kanji stamp they have. If you are lucky, maybe you can find one with your own kitty design.
The fact cat and cat products are taking over the world makes my heart pounce with joy. Amazon has pages upon pages of special and great kitty products for all your holiday needs.
Happy Holiday shopping, you cool cats. Stay nerdy!
