Note: All title links take you strait to the Google Play App Store except for #2.
10. Worms: Its a worms game (I honestly can’t think of a better description). If you don’t know what that is try it. You’ll either love it or you’ll hate it.
9. The Plateau: This beautiful puzzle game is a wonderful casual time waster, but is oddly addictive. It hasn’t been updated in a long time, so it doesn’t look as good on anything over Android 2.1 but don’t let that stop you. My phone has 2.3 and I have been playing the heck out of this since I got it.
8. Draw Something: Pictionary with your Facebook friends “Words With Friends” style. But, unlike words with friends, there isn’t nearly as much cheating; more laughing your face off than anything really.
7. Cordy/Cordy Sky: This platformer is cute and super fun. It is a tad graphics intensive though, so I suggest a phone with Android 2.3 or newer.
6. Fieldrunners: Tower defense, and more tower defense. This is designed for short games, so there is less frill, but the graphics look amazing.
5. Angry Birds/Angry Birds Rio/Angry Birds Seasons: You probably already have these. If you don’t have any of these games then you probably don’t have a smart phone. Seriously, they are everywhere.
4. Angry Birds Space: This merits its own number on the chart, as it takes the angry birds you probably know and love and adds everyone’s favorite game mechanic: the slingshot effect. I have three stars on most of the levels. If that doesn’t mean anything to you then play the game and it will show you how much I play this game.
3. Blast Monkeys: A similar game to the Angry Birds franchise, but with Monkeys! This game takes the Rovio formula of greatness and turns it on its side (literally. you fire the monkeys vertically), and gives you a timing mechanic that makes you tense, waiting for the perfect launch.
2. Gamboid: This isn’t necessarily a game. Its a gameboy advance emulator. You can download ROMs for it from a number of sites, and there are plenty of great titles for the advance. If you feel uncomfortable about emulators or don’t like installing apps from outside the Google Play Store, then leave this one alone. Me? I’m playing Final Fantasy VI right now…for like the fourth time. That game is REALLY REALLY GOOD.
1. Robo Defense: I have this game listed as number one for a reason. It is very similar to the Fieldrunners tower defense gameplay but with lower graphics. Where I feel this game takes the cake, is with the upgrade and achievement system. Upgrading your weapons is well thought out, and the achievements makes you feel like this game should be on XBLA or PSN. Seriously, its that good. I have wasted many an hour playing this game over many triple-A Xbox titles.
