The Amazon The Lord of the Rings will be set thousands of years before Lord of the Rings Trilogy and Hobbit books and movies. To bring this to Amazon in full spectacular, it will cost Amazon $465 Million in production. Part of this was the $250 Million for the rights for Tolkien’s Middle Earth.
To compare, Game of Thrones cost HBO 100 Million for the first season and $250 Million for the last season.
