Douglas Trumbull passed away on Monday February 7, 2022. He died in Albany, New York at age 79. He lost his two year battle with cancer, a brain tumor, and a stroke.
Turmball was a legend in movie special effects before the days of CGI. He was a master of practical effects that were amazing. He is known for his effects on 2001: A Space Odyssey especially with the kaleidoscopic finale. He has created special effects for Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Blade Runner.
