The following was posted on Facebook just a few minutes ago by Star Trek’s own Mike and Denise Okuda. I only knew Doug though Facebook, and his wife through his many postings about her. Everyone I have talked to today that knew Dorothy speaks of a wonderful woman, and friend. The news of her passing is devastating to those who knew her. Geekykool’s entire staff sends our thoughts and prayers to Doug and his entire family in their time of loss.
RIP Dorothy
From Mike and Denise
“We are devastated at the passing of Dorothy Duder after a year-long battle with cancer. Dorothy was smart, independent, determined, funny, and glamorous. She got her start in the film industry as an extra on such films as The Right Stuff, and her subsequent work as a production controller and accountant earned her friends everywhere she worked. Dorothy is known in the Star Trek community as The Kitchen Goddess, for her talents as food stylist on Star Trek Enterprise, where she was the real-life NX-01 chef. (In the art department, we loved the days she worked on set, because she always brought us a plate of her wonderful cookies.) Dorothy always went the extra mile to care for her friends, including the squirrels in her back yard and the neighborhood stray kitties. She took no shit from anyone, but she was intensely loyal to those she loved, especially her husband, Doug Drexler, who was the love of her life.
Dorothy Duder 1952-2022.”
