AMC is the largest movie chain in the United States. They are changing the way they charge ticket prices. The prices of tickets will now be based on seat location. The seats up front will cost less than the seats in the middle. There will be three pricing tiers: Value, Slight Premium, and Premium. This new change is called Sightline. They will be rolling out to the 1,000 theaters by the end of the year.
If AMC uses this to sell out theaters by offering some cheaper tickets, that is KOOL. If they are doing this to just raise prices, then it is not KOOL at all. I have a feeling it might make it difficult for the normal person to afford the premium middle seats.
