Oscar Award-winning actress, Maggie Smith, passed away today. She was 89 years old. She died in a London Hospital.
Smith started acting professionally in the 50s. She won an Oscar for her role in the 1969 film, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. She had numerous memorable roles over the years including an older Wendy in the 1991 movie, Hook. She was mother superior in Sister Act. She is best remembered as Countess of Grantham in Downton Abbey and Professor Minerva McGonagall in the Harry Potter films.
Smith is survived by 2 sons and 5 grandchildren.
Rest In Peace Maggie Smith. We will miss you. You are an amazing actor.
