Happy 70th Birthday, the King of Monsters, Godzilla. Today is November 3rd and is “Godzilla Day” as it is the anniversary of when it opened in Japan on November 3, 1954.
Godzilla was a method to talk about the devastation of the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki without addressing it out loud. At the time, the U.S. military still occupied Japan and they weren’t allowed to talk about this issues from the bombs.
Godzilla (aka Gojira) has become an international star. The King of the Monsters is iconic and beloved by many. The image, the Godzilla cry, and the breath are known around the world.
We wish you a very happy Godzilla. Happy Godzilla Day! Thank you to all who have worked on the films, cartoons, comics, etc over the years.
Thank you, Ray, for pointing this out to me.
