I remember watching the movie “A Knight’s Tale” in 2001. It is a fun medieval movie that focused on jousting and knighthood. It was a fun ride.
“A Knight’s Tale” did not take itself too seriously. The opening scene has Queen’s “We Will Rock You” playing and the crowd banging their goblets to the rhythm. Jocelyn, the English Noble love interest, is not Anglo Saxon but rather an eclectic mix of French, Hawaiian, Dutch, Irish, Filipino and German. This movie was not a devoted look at the time period in Great Britain but rather about having fun.
This movie is being converted into an ongoing series by ABC. It is suppose to keep the same flavor of humor and music. According to Deadline, the series adaptation will be written by Battlestar Galactica developer/executive producer Ron Moore. This gives this series promise that few other adaptions ever have.
I hope this series is good. After all, Ron Moore knows something about adapting series. Most adaption series fail but lately, there have been several that have transitioned well. Of course, this movie will not have the late Heath Ledger.
