Actor Alan Rickman Passed Away at age 69 from cancer. He had a short battle with cancer. Cancer sucks.
Rickman was a stage actor in London before he began acting in movies. He was in over 40 movies through the years. He is best none for his antagonist roles.
His first role was the icon bad guy, Hans Gruber from Bruce Willis’ mega hit action movie, Die Hard, in 1988 . In 1991’s Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves , Rickman stole the movie as the Sheriff of Nottingham. But his most rememberable role was Professor Severus Snape in the eight movies of the Harry Potter series.
Rickman had several science fiction/ fantasy movies beyond Harry Potter. He was the voice of the Blue Caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland and the upcoming sequel, Alice Through the Looking Glass. He was the depressed voice of the robot Marvin in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. He won many geek’s hearts with his role of Alexander Dane in the comedy Galaxy Quest with his famous quote, “By Grabthar’s hammer, by the suns of Worvan, you shall be avenged.”
The very top image is from Rickman’s appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Rickman’s humor came out in a huge way with Jimmy. They were sucking helium out of balloons. It was awesome.
Rest in Peace Alan. We will miss you.
