Actor Carl Weathers passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at the age of 76. According to a statement from his family, Weathers passed away peacefully in his sleep.
Before Carl Weathers started acting, he was a professional football player for the Oakland Raiders as a linebacker. He retired from the NFL in 1974. He told everyone that he retired to become an actor. His acting career spanned 5 decades. Not bad for a Football player who wanted to be an actor.
Weathers has had a ton of memorable roles and characters over the years. He was nominated for his role as Greef Karga in The Mandalorian. He fought alongside Aronold in Pedator. As Chubbs, he trained Happy Gilmore how to put the ball. He fought alongside Woody and Buzz as Combat Carl. He was the Detroit Cop known as Action Jackson. He will always be best known as Apollo Creed in the Rocky movies. When the audience disdains a character in the first movie and cries when they die in the fourth movie, that is good acting.
Thank you, Carl Weathers for the great memories and your amazing roles. Rest in Peace.
