A couple of years ago, I was looking for something different to read as a comic. I am usually a cape and mask kind of comic reader. I love my superheroes. I had heard great things about Brian K. Vaughan’s Paper Girls from Image comics. I had no idea what to expect but picked it up just to see. From what I could tell, Paper Girls was way outside of my norm and comfort zone.
I found Paper Girls to be an engrossing and awesome comic. It is full of Kool characters and unexpected plot and story. I quickly developed a love for this series.
Paper Girls starts out with 4 very different girls delivering papers in the late 80s . They are riding their routes the morning after Halloween and all heck breaks loose. What looks like an interesting tail of pre-teen girls in the 80s becomes a crazy science fiction tale of time travel and adventure. It is worth picking up if you haven’t read it.
Amazon Prime has won the bid to adapt this awesome comic into a series for their streaming service. Stephany Folsom, co-writer Toy Story 4, will write the adaption. Folsom, Vaughan, and Plan B will executive produce.
Brian K. Vaughan has a multi-year deal with Legendary Entertainment. This is the first adaption of that contract.
