The CW’s Arrow has cast Caity Lotz to portray Dinah Drake and the super hero Black Canary for season 2. The Black Canary is a key character with Green Arrow. She is his partner and often his wisdom.
This news has to be a shock to most fans of Arrow since they assumed that Katie Cassidy’s character of Laurel Lance would become Black Canary. The classic Black Canary was Dinah Drake. She had no superpowers. She married detective Larry Lance and had a baby girl. That girl was named Dinah Laurel Lance and she grew up to be the second Black Canary. Everyone assumed Arrow’s Laurel would eventually become the Black Canary.
With the combined additions of Caity Lotz and Summer Glau, the Arrow series has my attention. I will be watching with anticipation. Hopefully I will not be disappointed.
