I love Bruce Campbell as an actor. He has great comedic timing. He has that natural charisma. He has that awesome chin.
I have enjoyed most of his roles including Ash in Evil Dead/Army of Darkness, Brisco County Jr, Elvis from Bubba Ho-Tep, Sam from Burn Notice, Jack from Jack of All Trades, and his “B” Sci Fi movies roles.
Earlier this weekend, Bruce Campbell was a guest on a panel at Wizard World Nashville Comic Con. He was asked the question about his involvement in the already announced Army of Darkness sequel. After some humorous thoughts, the great B actor confirmed his involvement and his return to his role of Ash. The first Army of Darkness movie premiered in 1992 and fans have not so patiently waited for this sequel for over 20 years.
“The last one was 22 years ago. I just haven’t been racing to do it. Sam Raimi is just a little bit busy making the biggest movies in Hollywood. I use to be busy. Now I’m not. That’s why I’m here.
“Ash would have to stop occasionally from chasing some deadite to catch his breath. Maybe we could do that, I guess. That would be exciting. Fight in a walker. That would be all right. Hit them with my cane. Fake them out, have a fake heart attack, distract a zombie. I like it… [Seriously] All right, sir, the answer is yes.” (Screen Rant)
This is wonderful news for fans of Bruce Campbell and fans of Evil Dead/Army of Darkness. Let us hope Ash hasn’t forgotten how to us his Chainsaw or his Boomstick.
His quote above is proof that Campbell still is a geek and extremely funny. He knows how to play to the crowd.
