Even though CBS President Les Moonves stated earlier in the year that all of their “Freshman” shows would be renewed, Supergirl may get canned. CBS’ Supergirl is in a budget standoff. Supergirl cost around $3 Million per episode. Ratings are decent but not spectacular. They pay a huge license fee to Warner Bros to use Supergirl’s character.
CBS and Warner Bros are staring each other down over the bottom dollar. This could kill off Supergirl faster than a speeding kryptonite bullet.
Rumors continue to swirl daily about Supergirl moving to the CW to join fellow DC Comic shows like Arrow, Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow. Those rumors are continually denied by Warner, the CW, and CBS. It sounds like it is in the best interest of both Warner Bros and CBS to work out a deal and renew Supergirl but it is just as likely that CBS will just cancel Supergirl.
I hope Supergirl receives another season.
