The future of Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) flying around in TARDIS has been up in the air for a while. Coleman and BBC previously wouldn’t confirm if she would continue to a companion for the Doctor in Season Nine. Coleman has now confirmed that she will continue with the popular sci fi series for at least another season. She will continue to be Peter Capaldi’s Doctor’s (12th doctor by some accounts) companion, friend, and link to humanity.
This is a mixed news for fans. Some fans of the series have grown to love Clara’s character and couldn’t be more excited by the return of the spunky impossible girl. Other Whovians (like my daughter) aren’t attached to Clara and were hoping for a change. Sometimes fans grow attached to different Doctors and Companions and sometimes have trouble accepting the new one. Amy Pond was a hugely popular companion and Clara is no Amy (and she isn’t suppose to be).
If you are a fan of Clara or not, Peter Capaldi is a fan of Jenna Coleman. He is excited that she will be returning. Capaldi stated, “I’m thrilled. Jenna has just been fantastic and such a pleasure to work with.” (BBC)
