Pop Surrealist Painter, Camilla D’Errico, had a enjoyable panel at Planet Comicon Kansas City. In it, she discussed her unique art style and how she got there. She originally was inspired by American art but later really inspired by manga art. She shared the processes she uses and how she uses wood to paint on. She also discussed how she got liberated to just paint what speaks to her.
This is not my usual type of panel to attend on at a convention because I am am not an artist. But I knew that A.J. loves Camilla D’Errico’s art. In fact, A.J. has one of Camilla’s pieces of art tattooed on her.
I stopped by Camilla booth on the convention floor. She was super nice and happy to spend a little time talking to me. I shared with her about A.J. and showed her a picture of the tattoo. Camilla was excited to see the tattoo of the Bee that A.J. had selected. Camilla invited me to attend her panel so I did.
Even though I have zero artist ability, I found the panel to be fun and educational. I learned a lot just in the 50 minute panel. I found her inspiration for the rainbow kids a beautiful story.
Thank you, Camilla, for inviting me and for being so KOOL.
