If you are a Critical Role Fan, aka a Critter, like I am, you may be surprised if you go back and try to watch some of the old videos. Critical Role has removed hundreds of videos from its Youtube channel. All of these videos featured Brian Wayne Foster.
Brian Wayne Foster was the host of Talks Machina and several other Critical Role related series. Foster was the long-time partner and fiance of Ashley Johnson (Critical Role regular, Chrissy- Growing Pains, Anna- Last of Us tv series). Ashley’s relationship with Foster had a history of verbal abuse, control, and substance dependence. The couple separated earlier in the year. According to reports, the behaviors of Foster intensified after the separation which lead to Ashley Johnson taking out a restraining order in May against Foster.
The Critical Role group removed the digital presence of Foster from their Youtube history. There are a few brief appearances of Foster left on the Critical Role Youtube such as a handful of live shows he hosted at conventions. He introduced the cast at the conventions. Otherwise, Foster has been scrubbed from the history on Youtube.
Here is information from Dr. Emily Friedman about this. It details the videos removed.
As expected, CR has now made inaccessible all content featuring BWF, including all of Talks Machina, the CR talkback show that ran until 2021. Talks often (alongside Twitter) provided clarification of in-game events. Some fan transcripts remain for research purposes — for now. https://t.co/t60r1u9qIa
