The CW has picked up the rights to the television series, Riverdale. Riverdale is based on of Archie Comics. Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, and the rest of the gang are expected to be main characters on this one hour drama. Riverdale produced by Greg Berlanti.
A pilot episode has no guarantees of the series making it. It is the first step towards a new series. Lots of pilots are created but only a few are picked up as a new series.
The CW has a ton of comic based television series. If Riverdale is picked up by the CW, it will be their fifth comic based series (The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, and iZombie). All of these series are produced by Greg Berlanti except iZombie.
