Angela Lansbury passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. This was five days shy of her 97th birthday.
Most of us knew Dame Angela Lansbury from one or more of her numerous television or movie roles. She is known as Ms Potts from Beauty and the Beast. She was Mrs. Eleanor Shaw Iselin in the movie, The Manchurian Candidate. Landsbury will always be known to me as Jessica Fletcher from Murder She Wrote.
Lansbury also won five Tony Awards over the years. She won for her role in Mame in 1966, Dear World in 1969, Gypsy in 1975, Sweeney Todd in 1975, and most recently in 2009 for Noel Coward’s Blithe Spirit. Her best known role on Broadway was The Demon Barber of Fleet Street on Sweeney Todd from 1979.
Rest In Peace, Dame Angela Lansbury.
