Comic book writer and artist Darwyn Cooke passed away yesterday at at 54. He lost his battle with an aggressive type of cancer.
Cooke’s battle with cancer surprised most of the comic community. On Friday, Darwyn’s wife, Marsha, posted an announcement on Cooke’s website announcing the cancer and at that time he was receiving palliative care. Early Saturday morning Darwyn Cooke passed away from complications of his cancer.
Darwyn Cooke was a great writer and artist. He was best known his work with DC Comic characters. He worked on the Batman: The Animated Series and Superman: The Animated Series as a storyboard artist on the 90s. He worked Batman: Ego and Catwoman.
In 2004, Cooke wrote and drew the awesome graphic novel, DC: The New Frontier. New Frontier took a new look at the Silver aged versions of the Justice League. The KOOL look and feel of New Frontier set a new standard for a comic book graphic novel series.
