Warner Bros and DC Comics have changed their mind about allowing the Statue of Jeffrey Baldwin to have the Superman “S Shield”. We reported yesterday that DC had denied the use of the Superman “S” for the statue. After a day of really bad press, Warner Bros and DC’s thoughts on the statue has changed 180 degrees.
“We are honored by the relationship that our fans have with our characters, and fully understand the magnitude of their passion,” a company spokesperson said in a statement released this morning. “We take each request seriously and our heartfelt thoughts go out to the victims, the family and those affected. DC Entertainment uses a flexible set of criteria when we receive worthy requests such as this, and at times have reconsidered our initial stance. After verifying the support of appropriate family members, DC Entertainment will be allowing the Jeffrey Baldwin Memorial Statue to feature the Superman S Shield.” (Comicbook.com)
Good for Warner Bros and DC Comics/Entertainment. It would have been better if they would made this decision before all the bad press. But at least they eventually made a great decision to support the memory of a five year old kid that loved Superman. It shows support for helpless children around the world.
