According to CBR, the scores of DC Comic Book movies planned for the next 5 years may be in jeopardy. The future appears to hinge on the success of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. If BVS isn’t a huge winner in theaters, many of the other movies may fade away.
Rumor state the executives at Warner Bros are worried about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. They have seen the movie and are not convinced it is the hit they were hoping it would be. They are afraid it will not have the success needed to launch their plethora of DC Superhero movies. What if it doesn’t compete with Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War or worse doesn’t compete with Deadpool?
Even if Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice tanks in the box office, Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman will continue on schedule. The Justice League movie could be the first to be pulled or delayed.
I have speculated on this type of reaction for Warner Bros for a while. They have invested a ton of money in this movie. They hope to jump into competition with Marvel for the Super Hero genre but if BVS doesn’t meet expectations of the fans and the box office numbers, they could jump out and cut their losses.
