During this last week, Disney CEO Bob Iger made comment about a potential Star Wars Theme park. These comments has caught blaze to the internet. Could Disney pull the trigger on a new type of theme park?
The fanboy in me is extremely excited about this possibility. A whole park dedicated to my love for Star Wars. There could a Jedi section, Imperial section, and a bounty hunter section of the park. The themes for rides could be endless but I would love to ride a Boba Fett ride. They could pull from the original trilogy, the prequels, the new trilogy, and the extended universe.
Some will wonder if a Star Wars only theme park could be successful. The draw of a science fiction movie is considerably less than that of an animated mouse. Even as popular as geekdom is now, geeks are still in the minority.
But yet many people believed Walt Disney would fail at Disneyland. He was creating a theme park around an animated mouse and his pals. How could that ever be successful? Yet Walt proved all of the naysayers wrong. Could Iger do the same with a Star Wars theme park?
At this point, the Star Wars Theme park is just a slight possibility. We will see if the stockholders and Disney visionaries agree with this vision and get behind it. Only time will tell.
If a Star Wars park becomes a reality and is successful, then how long until a Marvel Comics theme park is next on the plate?
