We don’t often delve into the random rumor mill that many of the other sites seem to love. But occasionally, we want to discuss a hot topic that is buzzing the internet. A rumor recently came out that the Doctor’s arch-nemesis, The Master, will be returning during the Eighth Season of the new Doctor Who series.
This rumor comes from a twitter post of Chris Beattie. Chris tweeted, “Just back from Newcastle Film and Comic Con, lads. Sylvester McCoy told the audience he knew who had been cast as the new Master.” It was rumored that McCoy stated that the actor will frighten us on screen.
Did Chris understand correctly what Sylvester McCoy, the Seventh Doctor, had stated? Did McCoy state it correctly to the crowd?
The validity of the rumor doesn’t really matter at this time. We love the idea of the return of the Master. It would be fantastic. He is the quintessential equal to the Doctor. He is the Moriarty to Sherlock.
The Doctor needs this level of nemesis. Yes, the Doctor has the Daleks and the Cybermen. But none of them can match wits and personality with the Doctor like the Master.
If this this rumor ends up being true, it will be an interesting explanation on how he returns.
