Netflix and Wizards of the Coast are developing a live-action Dungeons and Dragons series. It will be named The Forgotten Realms, after the popular fantasy world setting and D&D books. For D&D, The Forgotten Realms setting is a similar medieval fantasy world like J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth. This series will not be connected to the recent movie.
Shawn Levy is the producer and Drew Crevello is the writer and showrunner for the new The Forgotten Realms series. The pilot script has been created for the first episode.
Fans have heard all of this before. There have been discussions and series in development for years on various platforms. But Netflix has a history of bringing well-adapted series to their streaming service. With the popularity of the Rings of Power series on Amazon, I can see Netflix going after a huge property like Dungeons and Dragons.
