We all have numerous things we are grateful and thankful for. This Thanksgiving, I hope we all remember our mammoth amounts of blessing.
I am thankful for all of my blessings. I have a wonderful family. My wife is fantastic and understands my geeky obsessions and puts up with me daily for 21 years. I have two wonderful kids who are both budding geeks. I have great friends who love me and accept me with all my quirks. I am free to worship my God and I am daily blessed by Him. I live in the United Stated where we have immense freedoms and blessings- it has it flaws and issues but still is the greatest country in the World (in my opinion). I am so thankful for all of these blessings.
With that being said, I want to discuss five geeky things I am thankful for on this Thanksgiving.
1) I am thankful that being a geek no longer has the negative connotations it used to have. I can wear my Justice League, Firefly, or Avengers tee shirts in public and don’t get stares. Most of the time, I get positive comments about them.
2) Sci Fi and Fantasy television series are really good. When I was a kid, most of the science fiction and fantasy television show were cheesy, poorly written, and badly acted but I still loved them. The last ten years we have seen a complete change. Some of the best written and acted shows are now sci fi/fantasy. Walking Dead, BSG, Firefly, and Game of Thrones have set the bar extremely high. I am grateful for this.
3) We are in the Golden Age of Superhero movies and I am so thankful. In 2012 alone, we had The Amazing Spider-Man, The Dark Knight Rises, and The Avengers. With Iron Man coming out next year and sequels to Thor, Captain America, Amazing Spider-Man, and Avengers coming soon, it is a great time to be a comic book movie fan.
4) The Hobbit movie premiers in less than a month. The Lord of the Rings is my second favorite movie trilogy. With the first movie of the Hobbit trilogy coming out in December, I am about beside myself with enthusiasm and thankfulness.
5) I am very thankful that Disney has recently purchased Star Wars. This assures another Star Wars trilogy (if not multiple) and I am geeking out over the possibility. It doesn’t get much more geektastic than more Star Wars. Yes, there are lots of jokes about this purchase but I see it as an extremely KOOL thing.
Well there is my list. What different geeky things are you thankful for on this Thanksgiving?
