Arrow is adding a ton of new characters this season. The news continue to leak about new characters regularly. According to Deadline, the latest addition will be Barry Allen. Barry Allen will start off as a regular guy on the series in episode Three. Something will happen to give him super speed (I hope it is a lightning induced chemical spill at a police station). The Flash will be born and run around “Starling” City (Star City in the comics) stopping crime.
After Arrow establishes the Flash as a character, Warner Bros is hopeful to spin the Flash off into his own series. Part of the focus of the CW is to add to the DC presence on the newtwork. The Flash would benefit from the popularity of Arrow and the history of Smallville on the network. It will be interesting to see if the speedster can gain enough traction for his own series.
This potential spin off is being set up while a Wonder Woman series continues to wait. There were talks about the Amazon series about Wonder Woman having a chance but there is no new news. This appears to be bad news for fans waiting to the princess of the Amazons on television anytime soon unless they are going to introduce her on Arrow– which could happen if Flash goes well.
