Free is an amazing word. We will often do all sorts of crazy things for free stuff.
According to the BBC, the company Samba is offering free 3G in the United Kingdom in exchange for watching two and a half minutes of commercials a day. For the phone to work, the user must first purchase a SIM card from Samba. There is an optional dongle to assist in the process.
Free in exchange for commercials is not a new idea. Commercials have been paying for radio and television for decades. This is using an old idea in a new avenue. This is prefect for those on a tight budget or those that might be more of a penny pincher like me.
The user of the system in will need to install an app or web browser to watch the variety of commercials at a time that is convenient for the user. You can watch more than the two and a half minutes to store up credit for the future.
This free mobile will work with an I-Pad but they are not equipped for other tablets at this time. There is a plan to support other tablets in the future.
Users are forbidden from watching porn or other offensive material on the free broadband.
If this works and takes off in England, this could be a hit in the United States.
