Robert Pattinson has been confirmed as the next Batman.
Okay so I know that this is a polarizing subject. All I have to do is scroll my geeky friends on Facebook to see the opinions on the new casting choice for Batman. I thought I would weigh in with my opinion because why not?!
The critics (first of all I want to point out that the critics hated the casting choices for many Batman movies in the past that now people feel are the best portrayals of the characters. Think Michael Keaton as Batman, or better example is Heath Ledger as The Joker). Of this choice seem to be basing their opinions on the fact that Robert got his big break starring as Edward in the Twilight Saga. But let’s talk about that for a minute. First of all at the time he was a young actor who was offered a role in a movie that was at the time based on the biggest book saga. It meant breakout and a big payday. We can not nor should we hold that against the actor for ever. I mean it did bring him to the front and allowed him to choose more serious and beautifully acting roles since. So if you are basing your dislike of Robert for Batman on 4 movies let me point some things out
1. Robert Pattinson has made it no secret that he himself did not like the role of Edward.
2. Twilight came out over 10 years ago. That is a whole decade since this movie came out. Are we still judging an actor on a movie made that long ago?
3. After Robert Pattinson made himself a name by portraying Edward Cullen, he has chosen to star in some amazing movies. His body of work showcases his ability to be a wonderful actor.
4. He is not a glittery vampire he just played one for a paycheck! I mean who wouldn’t?
Here are some movies he has been in since that I think critics of this choice should watch before they bring on such an onslaught of doubt toward the actor.
Cosmopolis
Good Time
Water for Elephants
So what are your opinions on this casting choice?
Thanks for reading this GeekyGirlNess, until next time.
