What is the Winter Solstice?
For those who may not be familiar with the science behind the season, the Winter Solstice (occurring today, December 21, in the Northern Hemisphere) marks the official start of winter.
It is a day of extremes:

The Shortest Day: We experience the fewest hours of sunlight of the entire year.

The Longest Night: A time for cozying up and embracing the dark.
The silver lining? On the flip side, starting tomorrow, the days will gradually begin to get longer again. We are officially turning the corner back toward the sun!
