Lee Zlotoff, one of the creators of MacGyver, want to create a television series about a Female Engineer. MacGyver inspired numerous of people to have a career in Engineering and Science. What if they made a female Engineer protagonist who is a KOOL as MacGyver? Would that inspire more women into the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields? Zlotoff believes it just might.
Zlotoff partnered with several groups to bring his vision to life. U.S. National Academy of Engineering, the University of Southern California’s Viterbi School of Engineering, and the MacGyver Foundation collaborated with Zlotoff. They created a contest to find scripts with strong female protagonists using engineering.

Ada and the Machine is a steampunk series set in 1832 with renowned mathematician, Ada Lovelace, and her partner Charlie Babbage, the first computer engineer. A young engineer prodigy becomes an expert witness and solves crimes with her unique talents in Rule 702. SECs (Science and Engineering Clubs) is a comedy about a popular high school girl forced to join the Science and Engineering Club. A technological wizard creates devices to help spies in Q Branch. Riveting set in World War II where a young lady becomes an engineer to help out the war effort.
