Amazon is adapting the Voltron: Defender of the Universe anime from the 80s into a live-action series. They have started announcing the cast of the new series. Their latest announcement is a huge one. Actor Henry Cavill of Superman and Witcher fame has been announced (also tied to the reboot of Highlander and Warhammer 40K.)
The announcement didn’t specify what role Cavill has been cast for. In the cartoon, the pilots of the Lions, which become Voltron, are piloted by late teenagers. Cavill is a good actor but he isn’t able to be seen as a teenager. He could play Coran, the bumbling advisor to Princess Allura but not sure he can be the bumbling guy. He could also play either the bad guys Emperor Zarkon or Prince Lotor. It would be fun to watch him play a villain.
