“Heroes, Villains, and Me” is a periodic article on Geeky KOOL by Larry Litle about the world of comic books and my reaction to it. “Heroes, Villains, and Me” is not a comic book review article. I will write about current events, speculation and rumors, or my own wacky thoughts about the world of comic books and related stuff.
I love comic book/geek conventions. There is so much fun and socializing with fellow nerds and geeks. I feel a sense of belonging with a group when I gather with my fellow geeks in a convention.
Friday (tomorrow- February 24th) is the start of geek convention season for me. With my family responsibilities, I don’t get to go to all of the conventions I want. I pick and chose the ones that are important to me and I can afford to attend. This convention season starts off in Branson, MO, with VisionCon.
Here is what I love about VisionCon. VisionCon has something for everyone. They have a huge show floor with all sorts of great booth with groups to join, books to buys, geek merchandise to purchase and much more. There are a ton of great panels. Panels from all sorts of awesome people including many of the guests. They have dramatic performances for some of the panels. VisionCon has a game room that is open all night long to play your favorite board games and role playing games. If you want to watch a geek movie, there is a movie room that also open all night night. They have an art showroom. If you are a geek/nerd, they have something for you.
VisionCon is a charity based convention. They give their time and profits to charities every year. VisionCon is made of an awesome group of volunteers that do all they can to make the experience awesome for every person while keeping their focus on the giving.
One of the best parts of VisionCon is that it is local. Branson is only 40 minutes from home for me. I can go to the Con all day and then come home to sleep in my own bed.
I get to see all of my awesome geek friends at VisionCon since it is local. My local artist and writer friends will be there in droves showing their work and promoting their books. My buddies at Fanatics and the Fan will be podcasting live from VisionCon. There will be tons of other awesome friends like the crew from American Wasteland Entertainment.
I will not only be among my fellow geeks but I will be among friends. This makes this for an awesome Convention.
I can’t wait for the start of Convention season. I love going to comic book/ geek conventions. I am happy that I get to start with VisionCon .
Stay Geeky My Friends!
