Instagram is an app/service for Photo Sharing. Instagram was the apps of the 2011 for the iPhone with 30 Million users. Last week, Instagram was release for Android and was downloaded by millions of android users in a week. It is known for squaring images and Instagram has a ton of kool filters.
On Monday, Facebook bought Instagram for 1 Billion Dollars. They bought an app/service that is free and so far has made no money. Check out the article here.
I have read several reviews from Instagram users and fans. They are concerned that Facebook will ruin a great program/app. Some were joking that Instagram will become bloated and slow since it will be connected the New Facebook. There is reason to be concerned that Instagram might just become a part of Facebook. But both sides have stated they will stay separate entities.
There is hope that this merger will help Facebook not only expand but also have a better photograph section. They might bring some of the kool tech and filters to Facebook.
It appear that Facebook is taking a page out of the Google handbook and buying out other sites that do specific things well. It will be interesting to see what becomes of Instagram especially since I recently downloaded it for me Droid.
