It is 2015. It is the year that Marty, Doc, and Jennifer travel to in their time traveling DeLorean into the future… or our present time. It may be a fictional future which is very different than current 2015 but that doesn’t stop us from trying to develop the technology.
The key piece of technology that people have been working on is the Hoverboard. It is a skateboard that floats above the ground.
This is a technology that hasn’t been perfected yet. It is far from it. There have been a lot of faked Hoverboards on the internet with ropes and tricks.
The Lexus company is most known for their automotive vehicles. They have been working on their own version of a hoverboard called “The Slide”. It does work but not in the traditional way. Check out the below video.
The next video reveals the secrets of the board. It is working on a set of magnets and superconductors cooled by liquid nitrogen. The Skatepark is set up with the magnets under it. The Board can only work where the magnets are placed. The board has to be continually cooled by the liquid nitrogen. You only get about a ten minute ride before the liquid nitrogen runs out and must be refilled.
Here is to hoping that some day we will have a fully functioning hoverboard!
