Marvel Announces a Movies and Series at SDCC

Marvel took to the Stage at San Diego Comic Con and began announcing their Phase 4 shows and movies.  Kevin Feige gave some details about each one including some of the cast members.

They stared out announcing the Eternals movie.  It will be in theaters November 6, 2020. It is a star studded cast that includes Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh and Don Lee, and it will be directed by Chloé Zhao.

Two of Captain America’s closest friends team up for this Disney+  series that opens in Fall 2020 in The Falcon and Winter Soldier. It will star Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan return along with Daniel Brühl.

Marvel added one of the greatest martial artists in the universe with  Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings. It will be in theaters February 12, 2021. The cast includes Simu Liu, Awkwafina, and Tony Leung, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton.  Not only will this series add Shang-Chi to the MCU but appears to address real Madrin (not the fake one from Iron Man 3) and the Ten Rings.

Disney + brings Scarlet Witch and Vision to screen with WandaVision in the Spring of 2021. The cast includes Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, and Teyonah Parris.

It is unknown if this series will take place before Vision’s death in Infinity War or if some how Vision returns.  In the comics, Scarlet Witch aka Wanda does create her own universe with her and Vision having children.  That would be a wild series to see on Disney +.

Marvel’s most beloved villain returns with his Disney + series, Loki.  It will of course star  Tom Hiddleston.  It is also unknown when this series will take place in the timeline or if Loki found a way to cheat death again.

The highly anticipated sequel to the Doctor Strange movie, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, will open in theaters on May 7, 2021.  It will star Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen. Scott Derrickson is set to return as director.

Back in the 80s, I loved the What If…? comics The comics would tell alternative reality stories like “What If Uncle Ben Did Not Die”.  This will be an animated series with the voices of the live action heroes.  Jeffrey Wright  will voice of the Watcher who will introduce the story.  It will start on Disney+ during the summer of 2021.

Marvel’s favorite Archer, Hawkeye, will hit Disney+ during the Fall 2021.  Jeremy Renner returns as Clint Barton aka Hawkeye.  It was confirmed this story will introduce a second Hawkeye with Kate Bishop.

Thor flies back into theaters with Thor: Love and Thunder on  November 5, 2021.  It will star Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson along with the return of Natalie Portman. Taika Waititi will director.

Finally!  Let me say that again, Finally!  Marvel should have created a Black Widow movie before now.  Better late than never.  It is coming to theaters on May 1, 2020. The cast includes Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle, and Rachel Weisz. It will be directed by Cate Shortland.

Marvel had a series of KOOL movies with one of their heroes back in the 90s with BladeBlade now returns as a part of the MCU where he will be killing vampires.  Mahershala Ali will be Blade.

The biggest surprise of this list is that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 was left off the list.  I expected it would be announced in these announcement.  We have heard it is a definite go from Kevin Feige but we may not have enough details about it.  There was no mention of the Guardians in Thor: Love and Thunder but they may be in there yet.
