Face it Tiger, you just hit the jackpot! Or so it might appear to the old school Spidey fans who loved Peter and Mary Jane’s marriage (like myself). This image is not only teasing the return of the marriage of Peter and Mary Jane but also their child, Mayday Parker (I presume it is her- also it is kind of funny that she is wearing “Mary Janes” shoes).
I am a loyal Spider-Man fan. I have loved Spidey and Peter since I was a young child. It was the first comic that I had a monthly subscription (it came in the mail). I remember Mary Jane and Peter dating and getting married. It was one of the bright spots in Peter’s dark and sad personal life. Then Marvel took it away in the terrible story-line of of One More Day. (It was not J. Michael Straczynski fault- he didn’t want to write this story). It was all a deal with Mephisto to save Aunt May.
I am loving the current Spidey stories. I love how Dan Slott has written Peter and Spidey. But I still miss that core relationship with Mary Jane. She is no longer his rock and best friend but is a former lover and casual friend to Peter.
May “Mayday” Parker was the unborn child of Mary Jane and Peter. Mayday was stolen from Mary Jane’s womb by the Green Goblin and we were left wondering whatever happened to her. We appeared to get some answers in the Spider-Girl comic series started Mayday Parker as the daughter of the Parkers. She took on the mantel of Spider-Girl. I presume that it was some sort of future alternate reality.
As I have mentioned before, I don’t think Marvel can or will attempt to create all of these projects for Summer of 2015 that are being teased. I believe it is all rapped into the new Secret Wars or whatever the real Marvel 2015 crossover will be. I really hope Marvel isn’t just teasing me with “Renew Your Vows” but I don’t honestly see it being a reality in the regular Marvel Universe (616).
Here is to hoping it is real in the 616 Universe but I wont’ hold my breath.
