New York Comic Con always has cutting edge news. Today was the final day of NYCC and it brought headline news. The big time news came from Dan Slott and the Amazing Spider-Man and Beyond panel.
It has been common information that Amazing Spider-Man would end shortly with issue 700 and the start of Marvel Now. After that announcement, Superior was teased and then later confirmed to be the new Spider-Man book for Marvel Now. There have been unsubstantiated rumors (until now) that Peter Parker.might not be Spider-Man. Dan Slott, writer for Amazing and the new Superior Spider-Man comic, confirmed those rumors as truth at the panel. It was stated that there will be an “All New Spider-Man and it will not be Peter Parker”. This Spider-Man will be “creepier, dark, and weird”. (via CBR)
As many of my readers know, I am a HUGE Spider-Man fanatic. Much of what I love about Spider-Man is Peter Parker. This is going to take a bit of time to sink in. I am already changing my next Heroes, Villains, and Me article to discuss this issue and my numerous thoughts on it.
