We are just a week away for Captain Marvel to fly into theaters. There has a been a lot of negative talk about this this movie. Some of it is self inflicted with comments that Brie Larson made (we will discuss these in detail in an upcoming post). Other negatives were the extreme low scores on Rotten Tomatoes even though the movie has yet to open.
With all of the negative buzz and speculation that this movie would tank, the pre-sale ticket number say the opposite. A week ago, the had third all time Marvel pre-sales and that was with 2 weeks to go. It is on pace to beat Aquaman and Wonder Woman for pre-sales. If the pace is held, it will easily pass Avengers: Infinity War and only be second in Superhero pre-sales to Black Panther.
We know the Captain Marvel movie directly ties into Avengers: End Game. Early fan reactions to preview screenings have been extremely positive. There is a movement to help little girls that cannot afford tickets to see this film. This movie is bringing a lot of anticipation for itself and End Game.
I know I have my pre-sale ticket for opening night.
This is a great sign for Marvel’s first female lead movie. I hope it is amazing as anticipated.
