Netflix’s third Marvel series, Marvel’s Luke Cage, announced two characters for the first season. Luke Cage is a street level hero with super strength and unbreakable skin. In the comics, he started as a “Hero For Hire” but has become an Avenger. Cage will appear on the Marvel’s Jessica Jones (second series) prior to starring in his own series.
Marvel’s Luke Cage added the awesome character of Misty Knight . Knight is a New York Police detective turned bionic superhero. She is an expert martial artist. She has a Vibranium (Metal from Cap’s Shield) bionic arm. In the comics, she is known for teaming up with Colleen Wing, Cage and Iron First (fourth series). Knight has occasionally been a “Hero For Hire” with Cage and Iron Fist. No actress announced to portray Misty Knight.
Mahershala Ali will be the villainous Cornell ‘Cottonmouth’ Stokes for this series. Ali is a well know actor especially in Geek circles. He is Boggs in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay –Parts 1 & 2. He had a super powered role of Nathan Clay on the SyFy series, Alphas. He was on the 2000s series, The 4400, as Richard Tyler. You may also know him as Remy on House of Cards.
On Marvel’s Luke Cage, Cottonmouth Stokes will own a Nightclub involved with criminal activities. In the comics, Cottonmouth is a crime boss with Super strength and fang like teeth. It is unknown if Cottonmouth will have powers on this series.
Both of these characters have a long history with Luke Cage. I am excited to see them appear on the Marvel’s Luke Cage series.
