The hit fighting video game, Mortal Kombat, is getting a new movie adaptation. This video game has been around for decades. It is considered one of the more graphic violent video head to head fighting games. The 11th Edition of this game was just released this year.
There was a feature film adaption of Mortal Kombat way back in 1995. It was a crazy and fun movie but did lack plot development. It was very much like a video game. Now, Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema are trying it again with this film that is set to open March 5, 2021.
Simon McQuiod will be directing this action movie. Greg Russo has written the script.
Here is a list of some of the actors in this film and their roles. Joe Taslim will be Sub Zero. Ludi Lin will play Liu Kang. Jessica McNamee is Sonya Blade. Josh Lawson will be Kano. Tadanobu Asano will be Raiden. Mehcad Brooks will portray steel-armed Jackson “Jax” Bridges. Chin Han will be the Soul Eating villian Shang Tsung. Hiroyuki Sanada is the fan favorite Scorpion. Max Huang portrays the Hat throwing Kung Lao. Sisi Stringer will be Mileena. Lewis Tan of Into the Badlands has an unknown role.
As someone who saw the original movie in the theater, I hope they keep the music and the cry of “MORTAL COMBAT!” in the film.
