When I read that Paramount Pictures was making yet another Transformers movie, I moaned. Each new Transformers movie has been more pointless than the ones before. Yes, they have suckered me into watching most of them with the hope they would right the ship. Now, we have prequel film with Bumblebee. My mind screamed “NO!” but my heart still had a sliver of hope.
I was a big fan of the original series. The Animated Transformers movie of the mid 80s was amazing and sad. There is a line of nostalgia that is waiting for something to feel like that original series and animated movie.
The original Bay Transformers movie wasn’t horrible but wasn’t great. I hated when the characters transformed because I had a difficult time telling who the characters were. The plot was thin but yet I had hope that they could make it better. My hopes were dashed more and more with each sequel. I figured I would never see a good live action of this awesome cartoon from the 80s.
I was more than skeptical when I pulled up the new trailer. I thought it would probably be all shiny with explosions but not much more. This trailer grabbed my attention. If this movie can live up to this trailer, then I am in.
This movie looks like it has some heart. Finally, Bumblebee is a VW Bug which has bugged me from the start. I love the scenes on Cybertron (I am sure they will not be the focus) in the trailer. We get a glimpse of Optimus Prime, Shockwave, and Soundwave. When the characters transform, they look like they did in the cartoon and you can clearly tell characters apart.
Bumblebee looks like the Transformers movie I have been waiting to see.
What do you guys and gals think? Did you see enough to sell you on this movie or are you too burnt out from the Bay films?
