My Buddy Mr J. Christopher Wilson is reviewing some movies. He has agreed for us to post his reviews here.
Based on the real life 1907 account of Danish explorers Ejnar Mikkelson and Iver Iverson on a rescue mission in the Arctic to save a group of missing Danish explorers all in the global race to claim Greenland for their countries.
Looking for an adventure movie, I was surprised to find “Against the Ice” to be more of an emotional drama about the human condition than a Arctic survival film, although it is, on the surface, about survival.
This film is a more realistic version of the movie “The Revenant.” The acting was solid and the story tense but slow. I felt cold the entire time I watched this, wrapping myself in a blanket. I should have turned the fireplace on. It was good.
