I received my first manga, my still favorite, ‘Cardcaptor Sakura,’ on Christmas when I was in middle school. This gift changed my life for the better, opening my mind to a new culture, fueling my creativity, teaching me life lessons, bonding me with my brother, giving me new friendships, instilling an appreciation of art and storytelling, and entertaining me to no end. My collection has become quite extensive over the years. And although I heartbreakingly do not have nearly as much time as I used to or wish to read as many books and manga, I still try to find time to, especially during my teacher break times, always grateful to this media and creative storytelling format.
This year, 2024, almost every month, I selected a new manga to try the first volume of, summarizing and reviewing them all on here. But…which five were my favorite? I listed them below! ^_^
